Chanhassen, MN—July 24, 2013—Exlar Corporation, a Curtiss-Wright company located in Chanhassen, MN, recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to four distinguished local area high school graduates planning to pursue engineering degrees. The recipients include: Kipton Barringer of Shakopee, who will be attending the University of Iowa; Nick Dockendorf of Chanhassen, who will be attending the University of Minnesota, School of Science and Engineering; Morgan Frye of Victoria, who will be attending Iowa State University; and Christopher Hurst of Eden Prairie, who will be attending Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. This was the third year of the Exlar Scholarship Program.
Exlar CTO Bill Zerull stated, “With continued demands on technology for higher levels of productivity, safety and energy efficiency, having the engineering skills to design, develop and integrate these technologies is critical for both manufacturers and for the individuals coming into the workforce. By making these scholarships available, we see it as an investment for the future for the company, the community and the country.”
Director of Human Resources Kim Hidy added, “These scholarships are starting to pay real dividends as many of our scholarship recipients become Exlar interns, which benefits both the company and the student as they gain applicable, real world experience. Exlar wishes this year’s recipients continued academic and extracurricular success as they begin their engineering degree programs.”
