Pentair Introduces a New Line of Hoffman Enclosure and Cooling Products for Hazardous Locations

Anoka, MN—January 29, 2015—Pentair has introduced a new line of Hoffman branded products designed for harsh and hazardous locations to help protect electronics and the people who operate equipment in Oil and Gas, Chemical, General Manufacturing and many other industries.

Pentair’s Hoffman brand is introducing a new line of products that are designed to meet global certification requirements with quick turnaround on modifications such as drilled and tapped holes or complete integration per customer requirements. UL® Explosion-Proof enclosures are NEMA 7, 9 and 4X certified, and ATEX & IECEx Flameproof enclosures meet international standards for “Ex d” applications. The new line of air conditioners are designed specifically for harsh and hazardous environments to provide enhanced reliability and simple maintenance.

“These new product lines fit well into our portfolio and complement the recently released Purge and Pressurization Systems, Thermal Management and line of Hazardous Location Accessories. They will help engineers find solutions from one source that fit these types of applications,” said Matt Behrns, Oil and Gas Marketing Manager for Pentair Equipment Protection. “Customers are excited about the benefits these products offer such as reduced cost, increased safety and reliable operation from the trusted Hoffman brand. Customers also have the advantage of turning to our expert staff to help determine how these products can solve design challenges in harsh and hazardous applications.”

SX7 Explosion-proof Junction Boxes

The SX7 explosion-proof enclosure model can be specified into Class I, Division 1 Group C, D; Class II Groups E, F, G; and Class III applications. This enclosure is perfect for areas where NEMA 7, 9, and 4X enclosures are applicable. The SX7 features an O-ring gasket that provides a secure seal and stainless steel bolts to resist corrosion and provide increased protection in hazardous locations.

EJB Series Junction Boxes

EJB enclosures are available in aluminum and stainless steel models. They are ATEX and IECEx certified for Zone 1, 2, 21, and 22, and come standard with a silicone gasket which enables an IP66/67 rating. EJB enclosures are perfect for integrated assemblies for control stations, motor starters, power distribution and more. EJB series enclosures can also be rated for INMETRO, GOST-R, and are Australian certified.

GUB Flameproof Junction Boxes

GUB series aluminum junction boxes are enclosures applicable for Zone 1, 2, 21 or 22 with ATEX and IECEx certifications. They are ideal for use as a junction box with or without terminals, or for installation of electrical equipment such as fuses, relays, disconnectors, transformers, or remote control switches. The body can be drilled and threaded according to customers’ specifications. They are sealed with a neoprene gasket and carry an IP66 rating. GUB junction boxes can also be rated for INMETRO, GOST-R, and are Australian certified.

SpectraCool Hazardous Location Air Conditioner

The SpectraCool Hazardous Location Air Conditioner Series is Class 1, Division 2 Group B,C,D certified with a patent-pending and differentiated non-incendive design that enhances reliability, makes maintenance simpler and reduces weight by up to 20 pounds compared to alternatives. Additionally, the footprint is smaller with a streamlined appearance and has remote communications options that connect to common digital communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP and SNMP over Ethernet or Modbus RTU over USB. These products can be delivered quickly and have half the lead time of alternatives with many units in stock ready for next-day shipping.

Customers can choose from several model types: Spectracool HazLoc AC and Spectracool HazLoc Offshore. Standard models are available in Type 4 and 4X units with the option to control A/C units from your control room or remote PC. Spectracool Offshore are Type 4X with 316L stainless steel body construction and protective coating to resist corrosion for enhanced reliability in harsh and hazardous environments. Both units have a capacity range from 4,000 to 11,000 BTU per hour.

Hazloc Heater

The hazardous location heater is for use in hazardous locations where electronic components require protection from cold temperature, condensation, and corrosion. The range of performance for the HazLoc heaters is from 60 Watts to 600 Watts. They are Class 1, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D and ATEX/IECex Zone 2 rated. Most models have a self-limiting feature that prevents the enclosure from over-heating, and an additional thermostat is also available to control a set temperature.

These new enclosure and cooling products are available for immediate sale through Hoffman’s channel of authorized distributors worldwide.
