CAD Data in Individual Formats of Pentair Electronics Protection Products Now Available on the TraceParts Platform

Warwick, RI—January 27, 2015—Pentair is pleased to announce that it has extended and improved its services for design engineers with the introduction of 2D and 3D data downloads for over 4,000 of Pentair’s Schroff brand of products through the TracePartsOnline.net CAD portal—free of charge and in all current formats. CAD data available on TraceParts includes Schroff cabinets (Varistar, Novastar), subracks, 19” chassis, desktop enclosures, front panels and handles, frame-type plug-in units, PSUs and backplanes. This service will allow hardware developers to use native data formats in their choice of CAD software, removing the import of STEP data and the risk of data loss. Designers can also easily look at three-dimensional previews of all products.

The content and structure of Pentair CAD data is geared towards and arranged specifically for this type of audience. In addition to pure product geometry, the data generally contains the most common accessory and expansion parts; these can be displayed or hidden from view as required. Designers using TraceParts data will no longer have to build and compile a module from multiple files; instead, components that are not required can simply be hidden. For example, the CAD data for a front panel not only displays the front panel but also the CAD data for a sample PCB suited for it, with appropriate handles and bolts. Parts that do not allow cutouts are clearly marked. The user can instantly see the points at which the board is attached to the front panel, and can easily replace it with their own. This feature cuts down on development time and on the potential for errors in design.

If users require modifications to specific components, they can modify the CAD file and send it to Pentair for production of the modified product. Pentair offers a library of the most common cutouts such as D-Sub, USB and RJ45 connectors on its website.

The link between Pentair’s Schroff products and the 2D and 3D download pages on TraceParts is bi-directional. From the www.pentairprotect.com site, a link leads directly to the relevant download pages on the TracePartsOnline.net CAD portal. Visitors to the TraceParts site, will find a direct link back to the Pentair site for additional product-related information including user manuals, test reports and certificates.
