The first project on the machine, a prototype for a new Sentinel® case model was developed in a fraction of the typical time required for a new case design. GEMSTAR grew the case and its latching and handle hardware on the printer. An engineering review identified areas for improvement and the team was able to quickly make design changes and grow new versions of each component in a short amount of time, significantly saving on costs and time.
